Research questions - first quarter literature review, Autumn 2009

1. What do we know about current state of inequality, and the dynamics of inequality - growth, decline, movement - over the last.... ? years. How to bound a period? See what the literature covers.

2. What is our current understanding of the drivers of inequality?

is there evidence that more smes = less inequality,
that less fdi = less inequality,
that less unions membership = more inequality.. etc etc

3. Where is the literature up to on understanding the relationship between enterprise governance and inequality? Currently, no geographic boundaries to these questions.

4. does csr or sri ever look at ownership issues, could it, and if not, are they performing a function of legitimising skewed ownership patterns and resultant inequalities?

would be good to reflect on whether sri or csr could be a mechanism to help promote an ownership solution, or if not, then what could be done..

5. Where is the literature on sustainability and enterprise goveranance at more broadly?

It's never this tidy but:

September: 1 and 2
October: 3 and 4
November: 5 and writing, and diagrams
December: writing

I would like to have clear diagrams to communicate the emerging thinking.
